Neighbourhood Plan

Committee & working groups

Local knowledge,
clear responsibility.

A community Steering Group coordinates the plan, supported by five focused working groups that gather evidence and develop recommendations. The Youth Working Group works across every theme so young people's needs inform the whole plan.

Community-led oversight

The Steering Group is led by Parish Councillor representatives and includes local volunteers, with technical support from an Independent Planning Consultant. It oversees the programme, coordinates evidence, reviews draft policies and maintains links with Dorset Council.

Five connected themes

Working groups

01 / ENVIRONMENT

Environment Working Group

Examines green infrastructure, walking routes, biodiversity and landscape character. Its work considers habitat connections, valued views, dark skies and opportunities to improve access to the countryside.

02 / HERITAGE

Heritage Working Group

Develops evidence for conservation area protections, listed buildings and parish historical assets, including the Cursus, Roman Road and village conservation zones.

03 / HOUSING

Housing Working Group

Reviews evidence of housing need, site assessment criteria and local connection metrics to support suitable, proportionate options for the plan area.

04 / BUSINESS & ECONOMY

Business & Economy Working Group

Considers the local rural economy, support for agriculture and direct engagement with local businesses, including the infrastructure needed for home and flexible working.

05 / YOUTH

Youth Working Group

Led by a Steering Group member dedicated entirely to youth needs, this group works across Environment, Heritage, Housing, and Business & Economy. It ensures every working group's evidence, priorities and recommendations reflect the needs and aspirations of young people.
